Building Financial Clarity One Mindset at a Time
Back in 2019, we started with a simple observation. Most people weren't failing at money because they lacked information. They had access to endless articles, videos, and advice. What they lacked was a way to connect the dots between knowledge and their own behavior patterns.
So we built something different. Not another budgeting tool or investment calculator, but a space where people could actually understand why they make the financial choices they do.

How This Started
The first version of what became Lookrix Scan wasn't even a company. It was a weekend project by Astrid Quillen, who spent years watching friends make the same money mistakes despite knowing better. She kept hearing the same phrase: "I know I should, but..."
That gap between knowing and doing fascinated her. She started documenting common patterns in how people approached financial decisions. Not the math part, but the mental part. Why someone with a solid income still felt broke. Why smart people avoided looking at their accounts.
By 2020, what started as personal research had turned into workshops. Small groups meeting in coffee shops, talking through their actual money stories without judgment. The response surprised everyone. People weren't looking for more tips—they wanted to understand their own thinking.
Fast forward to 2025, and we're still doing basically the same thing. Just with better coffee and a proper website.

The People Behind the Programs

Astrid Quillen
Founder & Lead Educator
Started this whole thing because traditional financial advice kept missing the human element. Now spends most of her time helping people unpack why they do what they do with money.

Darren Thibault
Program Coordinator
Joined us in 2021 after years in adult education. His job is making sure our programs actually work for real people with messy lives, not just people who have everything figured out.
What We Actually Care About
We're not trying to turn everyone into investors or financial experts. That's not the point. What we care about is helping people feel less stuck when it comes to money decisions.
Some folks come to us wanting to start investing but feeling overwhelmed. Others just want to stop the cycle of paycheck-to-paycheck stress. Whatever brings someone here, we start with the same question: what's really going on in your head when you think about money?
Real Talk
No jargon unless we explain it. No pretending money is simple when it feels complicated. We talk about actual situations, not theoretical ones.
Your Pace
Financial mindset work doesn't happen on a timeline. Some people have breakthroughs in week two. Others need six months. Both are completely normal.
No Shame Zone
Bad credit? Late payments? Avoided your bank account for months? Been there. We're interested in where you're going, not where you've been.
